  9. Intelligent FTP (iFTP) is an advanced FTP client application with a
  10. unique and powerful scripting language.
  11.  
  12. The standard iFTP version also serves as a test drive version for people
  13. who wish to evaluate iFTP for the first time. The difference is in your
  14. registration key received from Santronics Software.  If you are
  15. evaluating iFTP, you must get a 30 day test drive registration key from
  16. Santronics. If you decide to purchase the product, you will then receive
  17. an official registration key.   Read the file TESTKEY.TXT to get
  18. complete information on to obtain a Test Drive Key.  You can use the
  19. test drive for the specified amount of days as indicated in LICENSE.TXT
  20. or REGISTER.TXT.   Government or commericial usages fall under strict
  21. license requirements, please read LICENSE.TXT.

  23. Using iFTP allows adminstrators and internet operators to create
  24. reliable and powerful scripted file transfer operations.
  25.  
  26. The iFTP scripting language offers command such as COPY, MOVE, IF EXIST,
  27. DIAL and many more commands used for complete scripting.

  29. iFTP uses a "virtual drive" concept (ftp:), to distinquish between local
  30. drives and remote drives.  See iFTPCODE.TXT for complete description on
  31. this virtual drive concept and the iFTP scripting language.

  33. iFTP is developed and supported by a leading pioneer in communications
  34. and electronic mail software, Santronics Software.

  36. iFTP cost $49.00.  Support is done via email and technical voice
  37. support. Fidonet operators can use the backbone echo IFTP_SUPPORT for
  38. additional support.

  40. Fast Install
  41. ------------

  43. To install, you can place iFTP and its files in any directory you like.
  44.  
  45. The Microsoft DLL file WININET.DLL (in WININET.ZIP) is required.
  46. However, you may already have this file in your Windows System
  47. directory.  This is true if you have installed Internet Explorer 3.0 or
  48. higher. In which case, you don't need to unzip the WININET.ZIP file.

  50. To test whether you need this file, simply run IFTP and if Windows gives
  51. you an error saying WININET.DLL is required, then unzip WININET.ZIP. If
  52. you ever do install a Microsoft product such as IE, you should delete
  53. the WININET.DLL from the IFTP directory and allow iFTP to use the latest
  54. version from Microsoft. Otherwise, there will be conflicts and it will
  55. show up with abnormal file transfers and connections to ftp sites.

  57. iFTP assumes you have a PPP account or an full time internet connection
  58. or you have access to an FTP server via a LAN or WAN.

  60. iFTP can be used as a dialer and it is intelligent enough to know if you
  61. are connected or not.  If you want to use the iFTP dialer, you must have
  62. RAS installed on your computer.  For Win95, it may be already installed.
  63. If not, Add Dial-up Networking in your Network Services.  For Windows
  64. NT, add RAS servers under network services.    If you are simply using
  65. iFTP on a TCP/IP (LAN/WAN) Network, you do not need RAS installed.

  71. the distribution services of FTP HUBS.  See the FTPHUB.ZIP example scripts
